In the third verse the lyrics express the wish that the celebrations may never stop and that the singer will protect his friend. On days like today, we still have forever. The lyrics describe the joyful anticipation and the meeting with a friend or an acquaintance at a designated meeting-point. The first part of the song consists of verse #1 and #2. E-bass and the second E-guitar, performed by Andreas Meurer and Michael Breitkopf respectively, start playing from the first chorus on. In the second verse, the drums kick in, played by Stephen George Ritchie. Then Campino starts to sing the first verse. A guitar riff in D Major, played by Andreas von Holst, starts the song. The song is structured in the following parts: Intro, first and second verse, first chorus, third verse, second and third chorus which then repeats and fades out. The lyrics describe a collective feeling of happiness when celebrating with a large group of people to music. Under the new title "Tage wie diese" this song was recorded as the first one for the album which should be released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band. It took the help of Birgit Minichmayr in the summer of 2011 to get things going again. But the band was not convinced at first - neither did the tune catch their ears nor could Campino come up with suitable lyrics to it. He had already composed a first draft of the song with the title "Kreise drehen" (engl.: Moving in circles) in 2010 and recorded it in his own recording studio in his cellar. 2012 Die Geister, Die Wir Riefen.For this song, Andreas von Holst had been inspired by the field holler Black Betty, which he knew in the Ram Jam-Version from 1977.

You can download “Ballast der Republik” from music stores such as iTunes and Amazon as either a standard album or deluxe edition which features a bonus disc of cover versions of popular German songs performed by Die Toten Hosen. “Tage wie diese” is the first single to hit German radio stations and is sure to become a Toten Hosen classic.
Die Toten Hosen has stuck with a more alternative/punk sound that will easily produce a few radio hits in Germany.

If you’re expecting an album full heavy metal/rock sounds you won’t find too much of it here. “Ballast der Republik” is packed with the higher powered songs fans love, but there is a nice pacing throughout the album that provides a softer break every once in a while. Their latest album, “Ballast der Republik” has been released for their 30th anniversary and the 16 song album makes up for the long 4 year pause since their last release. Since forming the band in 1982, Die Toten Hosen has released 15 studio albums and a mix of live and compilation albums, all of which have become hits. Die Toten Hosen is one of the most recognized German punk bands not only in Germany but around the world.
